

Common Name: Kindoroko Warty Frog and Lapham’s Warty Frog

Family: Brevicipidae – Rain Frog family
Location: Tanzania
Size: 1.3 – 1.8 inches (33 – 45.4 mm)
During the day, the frog hides under logs and rocks. At night, the frog comes out and can be found perched on shrubs, perches, and branches. The males call from these positions to attract females for mating.
The International Union for the Conservation of Nature (IUCN) Red List assesses the Kindoroko Wart Frog as Critically Endangered. They are found in a small region in the Kindoroko and Minja Forest Reserves in the Kilamanjaro region of Tanzania. Most of the forest outside of the reserves has been cleared. Even in the reserves, protection for the frogs are limited.
