The Green Puddle Frog lives in rice fields and forests pools. They rarely leave the water. Their range covers most of southeastern Asia. Researchers believe that it actually might be more than one species but further research is needed.
The breeding season lasts from April to August. The male frogs call out from shallow water to attract female frogs. Once the female frog arrive, the male frog grasps her from behind in amplexus. Then, the female frog lays her eggs and the male frog fertilizes them. The female frog lays around 700 eggs. The eggs hatch and tadpoles emerge.
The International Union for the Conservation of Nature (IUCN) Red List assesses the Green Puddle Frog as Least Concern for Extinction. They have a large range and are numerous throughout it. There are no major threats to the frog but deforestation threatens local populations.
