The Moroccan Painted Frog is a primarily nocturnal species but can be found during the day times occasionally. They live near all sorts of water bodies, such as lakes, coastal lagoons, mountain streams, and road ditches.

Their mating season starts in October and lasts until May but peaks from February to April. The male frogs call to attract the female frogs from shallow areas of water bodies. Once the female frog arrives, the male frog grasps her from behind in amplexus. Then, the female frog lays her eggs and the male frog fertilizes them. The female frog lays up to a thousand eggs. Neither parent provides any care for their offspring.

The International Union for the Conservation of Nature (IUCN) Red List assesses the Moroccan Painted Frog as Least Concern for Extinction. The frog has a good size range and a presumed large population.
