Hylidae – Tree Frog Family
The Tree Frogs in Australia are divided into 2 genera, Cyclorana – a more terrestrial group of frogs, and Litoria – a more aboreal group.
Cyclorana – A Terrestrial Group

The Knife-footed Frog is a medium sized frog ranging from grey to cream colored with dark blotches. It has a white / cream colored stripe behind its eyes and a white stripe down its back.

The Main’s Frog is a medium sized frog with a light brown to dark, reddish brown colored body with a stripe behind its eye. The pupil is horizontal.

The Water-holding Frog is a large species of frog, ranging in color from green, brown, or gray. Toes of the species are fully webbed.
Litoria – An Arboreal Group
The Green Tree Frog is a large, arboreal species of tree frog. They are green to blue-ish green in color, hence the name. They have a gold iris.

The Southern Brown Tree Frog is a medium sized, arboreal tree frog that is brown or cream in color. There is a stripe that goes from the snout, through the eye, and down to the arm. The backs of their thighs are reddish-orange in color. The iris of the eye is gold.

The Broad-palmed Frog is a medium sized frog that is brown or gray in color. They have a stripe that goes from their snout, through the eye, and down the side. The iris of the eye is gold on the top and brown on the bottom. The back of the thighs and groin is yellow in color.

The Peron’s Tree Frog is a large, grey to light brown colored frog. The thighs are bright yellow in color with black botches.
The Growling Grass Frog is a large sized frog that is green with bronze / gold blotches. It has a cream colored stripe that goes from behind its eye down its side.

The Desert Tree Frog is a medium sized frog that varies in color from brown, reddish brown, or gray. The frog has a stripe from the tip of its nose down to its side to its groin.
Myobatrachidae – Australian Ground Frog family

The Barking Marsh Frog is a medium, beige or gray-brown frog with dark spots on its body. It does not have a stripe down its back.

The Striped Marsh Frog is a large, brown frog with dark stripes down their back with a white or red stripe down their center of their back.

The Spotted Grass Frog is a medium sized frog that either gray or green in color with darker colored blotches on their body. A stripe can be found down the middle of their back sometimes. Males develop a yellow throat during breeding season. It is found on the eastern half of the territory.
The Eastern Banjo Frog is a large sized frog that is brown or gray in color with orange or yellow molting on sides. There is a white or yellow stripe from its eye to its shoulder. The pupil is horizontal.
The Malle Spadefoot Toad is a large, brown or gray frog with a stripe down the middle of the back. The pupil’s are vertical.

The Common Spadefoot Toad is a medium, brown or gray frog with a stripe down the middle of the back. The pupil’s are vertical.

The Shoemaker Frog is a medium sized frog with a gold, bronze, or brown coloring. The pupil is vertical. They do not have a line that run down their back.
The Desert Spadefoot Toad is a large toad with red, gray, or back color with orange-red or black spots and patches. Its found barely in the northeast corner of the province.

The Spencer’s Burrowing Frog is a medium sized frog, with a gray or brown back. They have a round pupil. The toes of the species are fully webbed.

The Desert Froglet is a small frog that is brown, grey, red, or green in color with dark patches all over its body.

The Eastern Sign-bearing Froglet is a small frog ranging in color from grey, brown, and copper. They don’t have any patches or lines down their back.

The Streambank Froglet is a small, brown frog that has a stripe that goes from its nose, through the eye, and down the side. They are only found in the Southern Flinders Ranges and are considered Endangered by the IUCN Red List.
The Eastern Common Froglet is a small frog, ranging in color from brown, gray, cream, reddish-brown, or beige. The belly is grey with white and black speckles.

The Southern Smooth Froglet is a small frog with a gray to brown coloration with a stripe from its nose to behind its eye.

The Bibron’s Toadlet is a small toadlet dark blue or blue gray in color with red or orange patches on their arms. They sometimes have a orange or yellow stripe down their back.

The Orange-crowned Toadlet is a small toadlet that is dark gray or brown in color. There is are orange marks on their head, lower back, arms, and legs.

The Southern Toadlet is a small, dark brown, black or olive color toadlet with bumpy skins. The underside of their arms and legs is orange in color.

The Wrinklet Toadlet is a small, gray or brown toadlet with dark patches on its body. The undersurface of the arms and legs are pale pink in color.
