A new frog species was discovered in Newcastle, Australia. University of Newcastle Biologist Dr. Simon Clulow found the frog and noticed its unique marbled belly. He named the frog the Mahony’s Toadlet (Uperoleia mahonyi) after his mentor Prof. Michael Mahony. It has been able to hide from detection because it lives under sand and vegetation on the ground.
