Peacock Tree Frog (Leptopelis vermiculatus)

Common Names: Peacock Tree Frog, Amani Forest Tree Frog, Vermiculated Tree Frog, or Big-eyed Tree Frog
Scientific Name: Leptopelis vermiculatus
Family: Arthroleptidae
Location: Tanzania
Female Size: 2.4 – 3.3 inches (61 – 85 mm)
Male Size: 1.5 – 2.0 inches (39 – 50 mm)

The Peacock Tree Frog lives in the rain forests of Tanzania. The frog has two color phases: a brown and a green phase. The green phase is where they get their name from since it gives off peacock vibes. The green phase has black speckles over the body while the brown phase has more irregular blotches.

The International Union for the Conservation of Nature (IUCN) Red List assess the Peacock Tree Frog as Endangered. The species is apparently common in areas where you can find it but its range is severely fragmented due to deforestation.
