A new species of frog was discovered in central China by Haipeng Zhao, Junxiao Yang, Chunping Wang, Pipeng Li, Robert W. Murphy, Jing Che, and Zhiyong Yuan. The species was named Rana luanchuanensis after the location it was found in the Luanchuan County. It is a true frog so it is in the family Ranidae.
