Dr Edgar Lehr and Dr Rudolf von May were surveying the mountains of central Peru a few years back when they came across a new species of frog. They named it Attenborough’s rubber frog, Pristimantis attenboroughi, after David Attenborough the naturalist from tv shows Planet Earth, Life, Blue Planet, and more.

The frog itself is really unique. It lives in the mountains at over 13000 feet. The females actually protect the eggs instead of just laying them and leaving. The frogs also do not posses a tadpole stage and hatch from the eggs has froglets.
