The answer to this week’s frog or toad is… TOAD. It is an Eastern Spadefoot Toad (Pelobates syriacus) from the European Spadefoot Toad family – Pelobatidae.
European Spadefoot Toads have relatively smooth skin and lack a ton of warts so it is hard to tell its a toad. You also can’t see the spade on its foot in the picture.
