Tree Frog Family – Hylidae

Hylidae contains the tree frogs and their allies. Most of the frogs are suited for an arboreal lifestyle and have adhesive toe discs for climbing.  It’s one of the largest frog families.

The family is broken into three subfamilies. The members of the subfamily Pelodryadinae are found in Australia, New Guinea, and other islands. The subfamily Phyllomedusinae is found in South America and Central America. The subfamily Hylinae is the largest subfamily and they are found in North America, South America, Europe, Asia, and Northern Africa.
